The Benthans are a humanoid species native to the planet Septis.
They are an intensely religious people, who worship a deity known as Drafa, who is depicted as vengeful and unforgiving to those who don't worship him or don't follow his will. However, over the last few years, a growing cult who worships a loving Drafa had begun to gain recognition. Many of the cultists were exiled from the homeworld, where they settled on their colonies as well as among other powers.
In 2259, a war broke out in Benthan space. The war resulted from the cultists seizing control of several governments on the colonies and promoting their ideals. In the end, the Benthan homeworld granted its colonies outside their system independence.
The government of their planet is comprised of an elected official known as a Kor and an elected council. Their colonies include Septis II, Falaron and Morda.
